How to Set Up EasyDMARC's Managed DMARC If You Already Have a _dmarc CNAME Record?

If your DNS currently has an existing CNAME record with _dmarc in the Host/Name field, most DNS providers will not allow you to create another CNAME record with the same Host/Name value.

However, some DNS providers might not show any warnings or errors and still allow you to add a second CNAME record with the same Host/Name — this is incorrect and violates DNS standards. It's important to note that having two CNAME records with the same Host/Name value — in this case, _dmarc — is not valid, and should be avoided to ensure correct configuration.

To properly configure EasyDMARC’s Managed DMARC solution, you must first remove the existing CNAME record that uses _dmarc in the Host/Name field. Once removed, you can publish the CNAME record provided by EasyDMARC (Managed DMARC Solution).

After publishing our record, your setup will be correctly configured and ready to use.

Note: If you’d like to retain the RUA and RUF email addresses you previously had in your original DMARC record, you can re-add them after activating the Managed DMARC solution. Simply navigate to the Managed DMARC dashboard, enter the addresses under the appropriate fields, and click Apply Changes to save and apply the update.
