Setting up Managed DKIM from scratch
Managed DKIM
Managed DKIM enables you to securely store and manage your existing DKIM records directly through the EasyDMARC platform, eliminating the need to access or modify your DNS settings. With EasyDMARC’s intuitive dashboard, you can easily manage your DKIM records without having to visit your DNS provider’s interface each time a change is needed. This streamlined approach simplifies the management of your DKIM records, allowing you to make adjustments seamlessly from your EasyDMARC account and enhancing the convenience of overseeing your email security settings in one central location.
Implementation of Managed DKIM
After selecting your domain from the Managed DKIM page, the system will automatically search for and detect your existing DKIM records. If you have aggregate reports available in your account, it will use those reports to help identify the records, streamlining the process. Once the search is complete, simply click "Continue" to proceed.
The dashboard will show all the records that the system has automatically detected.
If any records are missing, you can manually add them by clicking the "Add Record" button.
You can also check your DNS zone to ensure all records are correctly added. To do this, navigate to your DNS and search for TXT or CNAME DKIM records. The Host/Name field for DKIM records should follow this format: "selector._domainkey.yourdomain.com".
Note: "Selector" can be any name, not necessarily "selector."
For an example of a DKIM record, refer to the screenshot below.
Once you locate any missing DKIM record, simply copy and paste it into the Managed DKIM section.
- Email Sender: Enter the source name. If the source doesn't appear automatically, select "Other Email Sender" to reveal an additional field where you can manually enter the source name.
- Record Type: Choose either TXT or CNAME, based on the DNS record information.
- Selector: Copy and paste the portion that comes before "._domainkey". Ensure you enter only the selector without the "._domainkey" part, as it will be added automatically.
- Value: Copy and paste the value here. Once done, click on the Add button.
After ensuring all the records are correctly added, click the "Activate" button to proceed.
Verify that your DKIM data has been successfully transferred by clicking the "Continue" button.
Once verified, we will provide you with the NS Record you need to add to your DNS. This step is required only once.
We offer two options for publishing the NS record in your DNS:
Option 1: Use EasyDMARC automation to simplify the process.
Option 2: Add record manually to DNS
If you choose the automation option, it will simplify the process.
You only need to authorize the DNS record from the third-party application (EasyDMARC), which is a one-time authorization.
This authorization does not allow future changes.
Once completed, the record will be automatically published to your DNS, and the Managed DKIM feature will get activated.
Option 2: Add record manually to DNS
If you choose the second option of manually adding the record, simply copy the provided NS record, go to your DNS, and add it there, as shown in the screenshot below.
Important: If your DNS provider automatically appends the domain name in the Host/Name field of the record, you only need to add "_domainkey." If the domain name is not automatically added, you will need to include it as "_domainkey.yourdomain.com."
Once the record is successfully added to the DNS, return to the EasyDMARC dashboard for verification.
Note: DNS propagations can take up to 72 hours.
If the record is published correctly, the feature will be activated once the record has propagated.
Note: After successfully activating Managed DKIM, you can find all the DKIM records in your DNS zone and delete them, as they are now stored in your Managed DKIM. You can manage the records through this feature.
