Can a Parked Domain in EasyDMARC Still Receive Emails?

A parked domain generally refers to a domain that is registered but not actively used for services such as a website or email communication. From a technical email perspective, parked domains are often configured so that they do not send or receive emails.

In many cases, parked domains do not have MX (Mail Exchange) records configured. MX records specify the mail servers responsible for receiving emails for a domain. If no MX records are present, external mail servers cannot determine where to deliver incoming messages, meaning the domain will not be able to receive emails.

Additionally, parked domains are often configured with restrictive email authentication policies (such as SPF and DMARC) to indicate that the domain should not be used for sending emails, helping to prevent spoofing or phishing attempts.

However, within EasyDMARC, the concept of a parked domain primarily relates to whether the domain is used for sending emails.

This means that you can still add a domain as a Parked Domain in EasyDMARC even if the domain is technically capable of receiving emails (for example, if the domain has MX records configured). The key requirement is that the domain must not be used for sending emails.

If EasyDMARC detects that the domain has started sending emails and begins receiving DMARC aggregate reports related to those messages, the system will automatically recognize this activity. In such cases, the domain type will be automatically changed from Parked to Sending, since sending domains require active monitoring and therefore fall under the paid domain category.

Summary:

A parked domain in EasyDMARC is defined primarily by sending activity. As long as the domain is not used for sending emails, it can remain classified as a Parked Domain, even if it is technically capable of receiving emails.
