Setting Up EasyDMARC Managed Solutions for Subdomains
To activate EasyDMARC's Managed solutions for a subdomain, you should first add the subdomain to the platform as a separate domain entity.
Once added, you can activate Managed DMARC, EasySPF, Managed DKIM, and other solutions for the subdomain using the same process as you did for the root domain.
However, it is critical to understand that the root domain's DMARC policy is automatically inherited by its subdomains.
- If the root domain has a DMARC policy, emails sent from its subdomains will be treated the same way.
- The email activity of the subdomains is also consolidated and presented within the root domain's DMARC reports.
If you wish to set a separate DMARC policy for subdomains, you can specify it within the root domain's DMARC record using the “sp=” tag (subdomain policy).
Example: v=DMARC1; p=none; sp=reject
When to Add a Subdomain Separately
You should consider adding subdomains to the platform separately from the root domain if they:
- Use completely different sending practices
- Send distinct types of messages.
In this case, adding a subdomain separately provides finer control and allows you to monitor its specific sending practices independently.
Note: When a subdomain is added individually to your EasyDMARC account, it is considered a separate domain entity and will be counted as such against your account limit. In case you have any specific questions, feel free to contact EasyDMARC technical support.
