On our end, email volume is calculated based on the DMARC XML (Aggregate reports) received. Here's how the process works:
-
Sending Emails: When you send emails through your Email Service Providers (ESPs), these emails are delivered to the recipients' mail servers.
-
Recipient Server Actions: Upon receiving your emails, the recipient's mail server processes the DMARC policy attached to your domain. If DMARC is enabled, the recipient server generates an XML report summarizing the email activity and the authentication results.
-
Report Generation: The recipient server sends this XML report back to the specified RUA (Reporting URI for Aggregate data) email address defined in your DMARC record. This report includes data on the number of emails received, their sources, and whether they passed or failed DMARC checks.
-
EasyDMARC's Role: As you are utilizing the EasyDMARC platform, we provide our RUA addresses for you to use in your DMARC record. This means that the aggregate reports are sent directly to us on your behalf.
-
Report Analysis: Once EasyDMARC receives these reports, we process and analyze the data to calculate your email volume.
By using EasyDMARC, you can ensure that all aggregate reports are collected, analyzed, and reported accurately, helping you maintain DMARC compliance and gain insights into your email volume.
