Why Does the Email Volume in EasyDMARC Differ From the Number of Emails I Sent?

The email volume displayed in the EasyDMARC dashboard is calculated based on the DMARC aggregate reports received for your domain.

DMARC aggregate reports are generated and sent by receiving mail servers (such as Gmail, Microsoft, Yahoo, and others) that receive emails claiming to be from your domain. These reports summarize authentication results for those messages and include information such as SPF/DKIM alignment, sending sources, and message volume.

However, it is important to understand that not all receiving mail servers send DMARC aggregate reports. Because of this, the volume shown in the EasyDMARC dashboard may not exactly match the total number of emails you actually sent.

Several factors can contribute to this difference, including:

  • Some mail providers do not send DMARC aggregate reports, meaning their traffic will not be reflected in the dashboard.
  • Reporting frequency varies between providers, and reports may arrive with delays.
  • Multiple recipients across different providers may result in variations in how message volume is aggregated and reported.
  • Some email traffic may be filtered, rejected, or processed differently by receiving servers, which can affect what is included in the reports.

Because EasyDMARC relies on the data received from external mail servers, the dashboard should be viewed as an analytical representation of reported email activity, rather than an exact count of every email sent from your domain.

Despite these variations, the aggregate reports still provide valuable insights into authentication results, sending sources, and potential spoofing attempts, helping you monitor and protect your domain’s email ecosystem.
