Streamlining Email Authentication Testing with EasyDMARC's Email Investigation
EasyDMARC's Email Investigation tool is a feature that allows you to instantly test and verify the authentication status of your email setup. Unlike DMARC Aggregate reports that may take up to 24 hours to generate, Email Investigation provides rapid results.
Rapid Email Authentication Testing
Email Investigation offers a quick and efficient way to assess the configuration of your email infrastructure. It focuses on immediate testing and validation, saving you time and effort.
Here's how it works:
- Instant Results: Obtain results regarding the configuration status of an email within a matter of minutes.
- Detailed Configuration Status: Receive a comprehensive report on what passed and what failed in terms of configuration. Identify issues quickly.
Running the Test: Step-by-Step Guide
Performing the test is a straightforward process. EasyDMARC will provide you with a specific email address to which you need to send an email from your email source. The result of the test will be based on the sending source. For instance, if you wish to test your Google Workspace authentication setup, you simply need to send an email directly from your Google Workspace portal.
- Step 1: Click on "New test" and get your dedicated email address
- Step 2: Copy it in your email source, and send an email
'
Step 3: Wait for reports and analyze. Usually you need to wait around 1-3 minutes and refresh the page.
Navigating the Email Investigation Report
When you run an Email Investigation test, you'll receive a detailed report on SPF/DKIM status. Here are some key features:
- Pass/Fail Status: The report indicates which aspects of the SPF and/or DKIM authentication have passed or failed. As seen in the above screenshot, everything is passing.
- We perform checks on both Authentication & Alignment.
- Authentication: Authentication refers to the process of verifying the SPF or DKIM authentication of an email. If authentication fails, it means that you have not added the given IP address to your SPF Record, or the public key of your DKIM is not authenticated or has syntax issues.

- Alignment: Alignment refers to the scenario where the "From" address used to send emails is not aligned with the SPF and DKIM domains. This can occur when using a third-party source like Mailchimp, but you have not verified your domain in their portal. As a result, Mailchimp handles your SPF and DKIM domains instead of aligning them correctly.
