SPF and DKIM setup for SmartSurvey

SmartSurvey provides user-friendly online survey software to help you get the knowledge you need to make smart decisions.

Here are the steps on configuring your domain with SmartSurvey’s SPF and DKIM to make sure your emails are DMARC-compliant:

  1. Log in to your SmartSurvey account and navigate to “My Account” section from the profile

       2. Navigate to the “Domain Sender Settings” under the “Advanced” subsection >> Add your domain along with a bounce domain which should be a subdomain of your domain >> Click “Add Domain”

    3. Once the domain is added, the domain statuses will be visible below. First is the “email verification”. To complete the first step, you need to add an email address to which SmartSurvey will send a verification link. 

  Once you verify your email, pass on to the next step, which is displayed as “DKIM settings required” 


   4. Click on the “DKIM settings required”, after which you will be provided with a TXT type DKIM record that you need to publish in your DNS zone


   5.  Add the TXT type DNS record to your DNS zone (in this example, it’s Cloudflare)

  6. Navigate back to SmartSurvey and click on the “Verify DKIM” button after which you should see the message “Success: The DKIM record has been set correctly”


     7. Go back to the Domain statuses and click “Bounce Domain Pending”, after which SmartSurvey will provide with instructions for adding a CNAME record for the subdomain that you’ve specified as “bounce domain” in the 2nd step


    8. Add the required CNAME record for your subdomain in your DNS zone

Note: While adding the CNAME record for the bounce domain, make sure that the proxy status is disabled

     9. Navigate back to SmartSurvey and click the “Verify Bounce Domain” button, after which you should see the message “Success: The bounce domain record has been set up correctly”

      10. Click “Go back” and congratulations, your domain is verified. Moving forward, your emails sent out from SmartSurvey will pass the DMARC checks.

Note: DNS records might take some time to propagate after they are published
